Announcing Monitor Audio Gold Series (5th generation)

Monitor Audio’s decades of experience in producing groundbreaking, class-leading loudspeakers has resulted in this, the new Gold Series. Uncompromised in concept, construction and sound, the new Gold Series has been designed to deliver performance to savour for a lifetime.

Artistry in craftsmanship
Truly great craftsmanship develops over years, even decades; decades of trying, adapting, trying again, and on, and on, never settling for ‘good enough’. In their nearly 50 year history, Monitor Audio has taken an artisanal approach to speaker design, patiently starting from scratch over and over again to ensure that every aspect of their designs is the best it can possibly be.

Every element of the new Gold Series has been specified to produce a class-leading loudspeaker with unrivalled sound. Each speaker in the range is the result of exacting audio engineering combined with cutting-edge acoustic technology, and each has the sophisticated good looks to complement its thrilling performance.

The fifth generation of Monitor Audio’s Gold series speakers includes features first developed for the flagship Platinum II series. The Micro Pleated Diaphragm (MPD) High Frequency Transducer moves like a super-fast accordion to produce a smooth, wide, naturally fast response up to 100 kHz, far higher than conventional dome tweeters can manage. As a result, it sounds more lifelike, releasing the high harmonic spectrum of every note without the distortion that blurs definition.

The bass drivers used on the Gold 200 and 300 models and the Gold C250 also feature a unique construction pioneered in the development of the Platinum II series. Like the other drivers in Monitor’s range, Rigid Diaphragm Technology (RDT II) uses Monitor Audio’s C-CAM for the front skin, while the rear skin is made from a woven carbon fibre material. In between is a Nomex® core material in a honeycomb pattern, which is both incredibly light and incredibly strong, meaning that it can respond with great speed without bending. The new structure reduces distortion by over 8 dB above 300 Hz, which makes RDT II the lowest distortion cone technology in Monitor Audio’s history.

Every element of the new Gold Series has been specified to produce a class-leading loudspeaker with unrivalled sound.
