Roon now streaming to Chromecast!

Roon has now added Google's suite of smart speakers, Chromecast and Chromecast Audio products to the thousands of Roon-compatible devices. As with other compatible systems like OPPO UDP-205, AirPlay devices, Devialet's Expert amplifiers, and Sonos speakers, Chromecast devices will appear automatically in Roon's "Settings" screen under the Audio tab.

That update gives you a simple, effective way to bring Rotel amplifiers and other, network-free products into the Roon ecosystem. With a Chromecast Audio and an optical adaptor, you can use your store's Nucleus+ to demonstrate products like the RA-1572 alongside a host of other amplifiers, receivers and wireless speakers, making your job easier and giving your customer a premium service experience.

With audio-only devices like Chromecast Audio, you can now enjoy gapless high-resolution music (up to 96kHz/24-bit) from Roon. AV Chromecast devices like Chromecast Gen 1, Gen 2, and Ultra can also display album artwork, artist photos, and track information from Roon in addition to audio. And just like with all other Roon-compatible devices, you can group them through Roon's software. You can also use the Google Home app to group Chromecast devices, which will then appear as another device under the Audio tab in Roon.
